Originally from Auckland, Tevita made his professional Rugby debut in 2013 for North Harbour in the ITM Cup when he was still a high school student. Through impressive performances on the paddock, Li was selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools side in 2012, and was also selected for the 2014 and 2015 New Zealand Under-20 team. Li scored seven tries in five games in 2014, and six tries in five games in 2015; including a hat-trick against France which made Tevita the highest try-scorer in tournament history. 2017 was a productive year for Tevita Li who earnt regular time on the wing for the Highlanders and has continued to impress in 2018..
