Folau impressed with his Hawkes Bay season in the 2021 Mitre 10 Cup and picked up the Duane Monkley Medal for the Most Valuable Player. He has a great intuitive feel for the game, creating the ability to spark his team on attack. Although not a big man, he really enjoys the physical parts of the game and this is evident in the way he approaches defence.
The outstanding halfback was playing some of his best football earlier this season and was on the radar for All Blacks selection. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury which put him out for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Look out for him to really impress in the 2022 Super Rugby competition as he makes his return back to play.
