Josh Timu is a familiar face in the Highlanders squad after being part of the pre-season squads in 2017, 2018, 2019 seasons.
Before officially joining the Highlanders in 2022 Timu plied his trade overseas and played for the Japanese Super Rugby Team, the Sunwolves, in 2019. An ankle surgery late in 2019 saw Timu sit out the 2020 Super Season before coming back to play for Otago in the NPC later that year. Following this he was called into the Crusaders as injury cover in 2021.
Timu earned 5 caps during the 2022 season and paired well with Thomas Umaga-Jensen in the midfield when given the opportunity.
Timu comes from great rugby stock being the son of Otago legend and All Black, John Timu.
