Mitch Dunshea was born in Hamilton but moved to Christchurch with his family at a young age. He was selected into the Crusaders wider training group in 2016 after an impressive 2015 season with the New Zealand Under 20 team and the Canterbury provincial team.
In 2020 Mitch was called into the All Blacks squad as injury cover and travelled to Australia for the Tri-Nations Tournament.
Mitch earned 38 caps for the Crusaders before joining the Highlanders in 2024. Dunshea's style of play suits the lower South - a physical player with a high work rate - and he moved even further south to the Stags to play NPC and was an influential player during their 2024 campaign.
