Hugh Renton was called into the Highlanders squad in 2021 as an injury replacement and after impressive displays during the pre-season was added to the full squad and has been a consistent presence in the team ever since. 

An impressive runner and physical player, Hugh is a staple at the back of the scrum for the Highlanders. While injury cut-short his 2024 Super Rugby season in round three Renton has worked hard to get back to fitness and showed the physicality he's become known for during the 2024 NPC season. 

Renton will be rearing to go come 2025 and Highlanders fans will be looking to having his presence back on the field.

What does representing the Highlanders mean to you?

Such a proud region and club with a lot of the same characteristics and traits I was brought up with on the farm, so to connect and play for the club is a privilege.
