Kumeroa is a powerful prop hailing from Auckland Grammar School, where he played First XV rugby while representing New Zealand in weightlifting at Commonwealth and Oceania competitions.

Benét progressed through the Bay of Plenty pathway, where he captained the under-19s side before he made his Steamers debut in 2021.

His development in the NPC earned him time in the Hurricanes environment in 2024 and selection for the Māori All Blacks that same year. He added All Blacks XV honours in 2025, scoring against Uruguay on their northern tour, before making his Super Rugby Pacific debut for the Chiefs in 2026.

Kumeroa combines front row versatility with experience on both sides of the scrum. He will bring explosive ball carrying and a strong physical presence to the Highlanders front row in 2027.
