Argentine lock Tomás Lavanini joins the Highlanders with a wealth of international and club experience. Standing at 200cm, the powerful forward is known for his physicality, work rate, and set-piece dominance.
Lavanini has been a key figure for Argentina since his debut in 2013, earning over 80 Test caps and representing Los Pumas at three Rugby World Cups (2015, 2019, 2023).
Before signing with the Highlanders, Lavanini played in the French Top 14 for Lyon OU during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, adding valuable experience in one of the world’s most competitive leagues. His time in France further refined his leadership and presence around the park.
In the 2026 season, Lavanini brought his trademark intensity and international pedigree to the Highlanders’ forward pack, as he featured in 6 matches.
Heading into 2027, Lavanini will be wanting to continue to have an impact in the tight 5, and remain a leader within the side.
