Rohan Wingham is a Dunedin local and attended King's High School, where he captained the first XV team while he was there. 

Wingham had early success and represented the New Zealand Barbarian U18 team and New Zealand Schools. In 2021, he further demonstrated his skills and was picked up in the Highlanders John Jones Steel High Performance Programme, and in 2023, he earned a spot in the Otago NPC team.

In 2024, Wingham was initially named in the wider training group but was called into the full squad in January 2024 and went on to make his debut against the Hurricanes.
