Young Loose Forward, Oliver Haig, joined the Highlanders squad in 2024. Born in Perth but raised in Suffolk (UK), Oliver moved to Dunedin when he was year 9 and attended Otago Boy's High School. 

Haig has played for both the Highlanders and New Zealand Under 20's teams and has been playing for Otago in the NPC competition. 

Oliver made his debut for the Highlanders in Round 4 of the 2023 season against the Western Force in Invercargill after being called in as injury replacement and over the course of his 12 games during the 2024 season established himself as a quality Super rugby player. Culminating in selection in the All Blacks XV team that played Munster and Georgia.  

What is the best advice you have ever received?

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Oasis. 

If you weren't playing rugby, what would you do? 

I'd be a vet.
