Nathan Hastie was born in Perth and moved to New Zealand when he was a teen and  attended Kings High School in Dunedin. 

Identified early on as a talented halfback, Hastie was selected into the John Jones Steel Highlanders High Performance Programme (graduating in 2023) and has been signed with Otago NPC team since 2021. 

Hastie was called into the Highlanders squad as an injury replacement in 2023 and made his debut in Perth against the Western Force. After a strong start in 2024 he was unfortunately sidelined early on in the season. 

What does representing the Highlanders mean to you? 

It means everything. Representing my family, friends, and the region I'm from is a dream come true. 

What's your favourite rugby memory?

Debuting for the Highlanders in Perth where I grew up.
