Loose Forward
Lucas Casey is a dynamic openside flanker from Kerikeri, known for his relentless work rate, strength over the ball, and ability to make an impact in both defence and attack.
Casey enjoyed a standout 2025 Bunnings NPC season with Otago, where his high-energy performances and strong presence at the breakdown made him one of the competition’s most consistent forwards. His efforts were highlighted by a memorable two-try performance in Otago’s Ranfurly Shield victory over Canterbury, earning him recognition as one of the province’s rising stars.
Following his breakthrough campaign, Casey joins the Highlanders squad for 2026, where he will be looking to continue his strong form and make the step up to Super Rugby level.

What does representing the Highlanders mean?
It's my childhood dream to play professional rugby. Despite being from Northland/Blues I have never really supported them. Playing Highlanders U20s built a massive love for the region and team.
