Super Rugby Kids Round

Round 4 of the DHL Super Rugby Pacific competition is the round for the kids. Celebrating the next generation of fans and players and acknowledging that all our players were kids once.

Rugby has a special place in the aspirations and dreams of many Kiwi kids and we know the excitement a day at the footy can generate for families.

The players especially remember going along to watch their favourite players when they were young and enjoy their interactions on match day.

“A lot of our players remember the dreams they had has children about becoming All Blacks or great rugby players, and it usually starts with playing your brother or sister on the back lawn” said former Highlanders Captain, Nasi Manu.

Thanks to SBS the round includes special deals with free general admission entry to the game for children as well as other exciting events that will take place throughout the game and in the lead up. Tickets can be found at  ticketek.co.nz.

“We hope to see all our younger fans their on Sunday to support us against the Force” said Manu

The Kids round celebration is a new initiative for Super Rugby Pacific and is drawing support from all teams.

“It’s awesome to be dedicating a round of Super Rugby Pacific to kids, they’re the future of rugby. It’s important to give young people the opportunity to support their team at home, while also celebrating them across the weekend through broadcast, and at-ground activities.”  Said Super Rugby Pacific Tournament Director, Matt Barlow 

For Sunday’s game there are various events being held at the ground for the kids to enjoy:

• Face painting,
• Ball runner competition
• On fieldmeet the players once the game has concluded. 
• TV time with Sky interviewing kids around the ground and one special kids reporter who will interview a player
• Highlander’s poster and flag giveaways

A public meet and greet with some of the Highlander players will also take place on Friday the 17th of March at Invercargill's local SBS branch between 4:30-5:30pm.
