Aaron Smith re-joins the Highlanders for his fifth Investec Super Rugby season after being signed in 2011 as backup to All Blacks’ scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan. Smith’s form led him to becoming the first-choice halfback in 2012 and he was also first selected for the All Blacks that same year. A skilful distributor and reader of the play, Smith has solidified himself as an integral part of both the Highlanders and All Blacks, and will be looking to maintain his 2014 Investec Super Rugby form throughout the 2015 season in the lead up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Arguably the best half-back in the world at the moment, Smith also helps his teammates out by cutting their hair and keeping them looking good. Smith was awarded the Tom French Memorial Maori Rugby Player of the Year and was also nominated for the Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player at the 2014 Steinlager Rugby Awards.
