Biography
Shannon Frizell, originally from Tonga, is a loose forward with excellent aerial skills. Frizell had an excellent 2016 and 2017 season with the Tasman Makos. Shannon had a sensational rookie year in 2018, after starting from the bench he forced his way into the starting 15 and became a part of the very strong loose forward contingent that the Highlanders possessed in 2018. He was a bolter in the All Blacks June Test Match window and made four appearances during the Rugby Championship. Unfortunately he succumbed to shoulder injury and missed the end of year tour but recovered by getting a late call up to the Rugby World Cup squad in 2019.
Shannon was awarded the Rookie of the Year award at the 2018 Highlanders Awards evening.
