The Crusaders, Highlanders and Temuka Transport have today announced a partnership which will see the family-owned South Canterbury business extend its community reach in the South Island.

Temuka Transport Group General Manager, Garry Aitken, said: “We are a family business with divided loyalties between the Crusaders and Highlanders, so it’s fitting that we will launch our partnership this week at this classic southern derby match between the two teams.

“Temuka Transport Group is all about supporting local communities and businesses here in the South Island and, while we’ve grown significantly since the company was formed in 1967, our passion for this region remains the same. This is a really exciting step for our business and staff because, what organisations are more iconic in this part of the world than the Crusaders and Highlanders?”

Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge added: “We are thrilled to welcome a locally-owned business like Temuka Transport to our Crusaders family. We value the exceptional ties the Aitken family and their staff have to communities throughout the South Island, and their passion for rugby as a means of bringing those communities together. It’s fantastic to see the family supporting their local teams!”

Highlanders CEO Roger Clark was also delighted with the partnership: “the two South Island Super clubs - at their core - believe hard work delivers success, its great to be able to align with a company like Temuka Transport that believes in the same thing. We view the partnership as a very good fit and look forward to working with a community minded partner.”

As part of their involvement on match day, Temuka Transport will have two childrens’ Rip Rugby teams - representing the Crusaders and Highlanders - compete pre-match, and both teams will then join former Crusaders legends to form a guard of honour for the teams as they run to field.

About Temuka Transport: A family owned business since 1967, Temuka Transport has grown to a level where it now operates more than 140 trucks servicing the South Island through their brands of Temuka / MacKenzie Supply Services and Barwoods Ltd.
