Liam Squire moved south in 2016 after debuting with the Chiefs (against the Highlanders) in the 2014 Super Rugby Competition. Selected in the Maori All Black team for their tour of Canada and the United States in 2014, he also helped his provincial side, Tasman, to the ITM Cup Premiership finals that same year following their promotion from the Championship in 2013.
Liam Squire had a stand-out season for the Highlanders in 2016 and quickly became the choice option at No 8. Liam is a hard-running No8 who is hard to stop with the ball in hand and equally devastating on defense. An All Black since 2016, he became a regular starter in the black jersey. Plagued by injury in 2018, he still showed sufficient good form to make the All Blacks end of year tour and will be looking for a big season in World Cup Year.
