Josh Hohneck returned to the Highlanders after a 4-year hiatus playing with Gloucester in England. After being back in New Zealand Josh decided to play for Otago in last year's NPC. With good form shown he was later selected by Tony Brown in the 2021 Highlanders Squad.
He proved that he is still effective at Super Rugby level and help lead a vastly inexperienced forward pack to the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman final. His consistency throughout the year gained him a spot in the Māori All Blacks team where he played both tests against Manu Samoa.
Hohneck will be staying in Dunedin as he takes the field for Otago in the 2021 Bunnings NPC. He will look to use his additional Super Rugby experience at that level.
