Australia’s long-awaited fourth representative, the Western Force franchise was created under the auspices of the Perth-based Western Australian Rugby Union. The Super 14 license was awarded to the west by the Australian Rugby Union following a hotly contested bidding process with the Melbourne-based Victorian Rugby Union.
