Brad Thorn was part of the 2011 Rugby World Cup-winning All Blacks and had been playing for Fukuoka Sanix Blues in Japan’s
Top League before joining the Highlanders in 2013. The veteran has a highly-decorated professional sporting career
which includes success in the NRL with the Brisbane Broncos (1994-2000 and 2005-07), Super Rugby with the Crusaders
(2008-11) and more recently with Irish-based club Leicester (2012) who lifted the Heineken Cup in the European League.
The Mosgiel-born stalwart reached 100 Super Rugby games in 2013 and doesn’t show any signs of easing up.
Thorn’s 150 tackles were the most for the Highlanders last season and he was one of just five players in the team to log more than 1000 minutes (1199, 15 appearances).
