Ben Smith is the epitome of a Highlander man; resilient, unassuming and hard-working. Alongside Nasi Manu, Smith led the 2015 Highlanders to claim their first Super Rugby Championship and led by example on the field with stand-out performances throughout the season. Smith's exceptional Super Rugby form saw re-selected for the All Blacks world cup squad where he solidified his position as the first choice fullback and performed well - especially under the high ball. Smith reached the impressive milestone of 100 Super Rugby games in 2015 becoming the 37th player to achieve this and only the fourth player to play all 100 games for the Highlanders. Smith will stand alongside Ash Dixon as co-captain as they set their sights on leading the Highlanders to another successful season. In 2018, Ben Smith extended his record of most capped Highlander of all time to achieve 144 caps for the club.
