An openside flanker with a high work rate and a devastating tackle, Shane Christie enters his fourth season with the Highlanders in 2017. Christie is a proven leader, an intelligent player and excels around the breakdown, he will rejoin Ben Smith in co-Captaining the team this season. After an injury marred 2016 season he will be keen to get consistent game time in 2017. The flanker has been named in the Maori All Blacks for the past five seasons and was named appointed vice-captain in 2014 but did not travel due to an injury received in the ITM Cup Final. He also has experience at national level as part of the New Zealand Sevens team.
