The Highlanders lost tonight to the Brumbies in Canberra 33-26 with the home side crossing for three tries.  The Highlanders were down 20-13 at the break and a second half try to Shaun Treeby brought them back into the match, however a late try from Brumbies openside flanker Michael Hooper, put the match beyond reach.  Highlanders first-five Colin Slade left the field early in the second half with what appeared to be a serious leg injury

The Highlanders played with plently of courage to beat the Crusaders infront of a sell-out crowd at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin tonight.  Leading at the brake by 20 points to 10, the Highlanders allowed the Crusaders back into the game straight after the break through an Andrew Ellis try. However the men from the South swung the momentum back when Hosea Gear crossed in 70th minute to give the Highlanders the winning score.

The Highlanders started their 2012 Super campaign with a win in Hamilton tonight against the Chiefs.  The Chiefs went into the halftime break with a 7 point lead.

Highlanders replacement halfback Aaron Smith crossed the chalk in the 63rd minute to swing the momentum and lead back to the Southern Men with 17 minutes on the clock.

Jamie Joseph decisively went to the bench with 20 minutes remaning, and this gave the Highlanders the impetus they needed to notch up their first win of the 2012 season.
