Chris Noakes kicked a 79th minute penalty to give the Highlanders an amazing victory against the Cheetahs tonight. The Highlanders were down 23-9 at the break, however two tries in three minutes to replacement halfback Jimmy Cowan gave the Highlanders all they needed to get back into the match. The scores were levelled with five minutes to play, and the Cheetahs were handed the chance to win the game with a penalty awarded right in front of the hornes. The Bloemfontein crowd could not believe their eyes as Sias Ebersohn hooks the penalty from directly in front giving the Highlanders an opportunity to win the game, which they took in the 79th minute. Ben Smith was a standout for the Highlanders and was named man of the match.
The final score is Cheetahs 33 (23) Highlanders 36 (9).
